Aunt Dolly (born February 20, 1946) is a native of Nashville, Tennessee, and lives there with her husband Pete (otherwise known to Miley as Uncle Petey which she's never seen him before but has talked to him by phone) and her dog, Rufus.
Though it is unknown whether, like her actress Dolly Parton, she has a music career, Miley does see her as a go-to person for talking about her singing career, and she mentions to Mamaw that she thought Miley knew 'how to get a chuckle out of an audience from watching me on stage'. Aunt Dolly convinced Robby to have another go at persuading Miley's mom to go out with him when she turned him down, saying she was dating another boy, thus resulting in them getting together.
When Miley was born, they named Dolly (who is not an actual blood relation), Miley's godmother. It is unclear as to Dolly's age, but she is old enough to remember Robby going around in his diapers saying, 'Hello, I'm Johnny Cash', therefore is probably meant to resemble something close to Parton's real age, which, as of 2024, is 78.
Appearances[]
Aunt Dolly first appears in the Season 1 episode, "Good Golly, Miss Dolly". She is asked by Robby to come and sort out Miley, who's hang-up on Jake is interfering with her work. After mishaps including the loss of a tape on which Miley proclaims love for Jake, Miley finally realizes that if she wants Jake, she'll have to fight for him, with a little help from Aunt Dolly.
Aunt Dolly next appears in the Season 2 episode I Will Always Loathe You. Oddly, this episode is named after the song, 'I Will Always Love You', which was written by Aunt Dolly actress, Dolly Parton, in 1973. In this episode, both Mamaw Ruthie and Aunt Dolly are invited to come and stay with the Stewarts to attend an award ceremony with Miley.
However, the two have long been feuding over an incident that happened in a summer many years before. When Aunt Dolly apparently stole the love of Mamaw's life, Elvis Presley. After arguing their way through the entire episode, and even having a catfight backstage and destroying the award show, Dolly and Ruthie put their differences aside, realising that their mutual love for Miley is more important than any man.
Her last appearance is in the Season 4 episode Kiss It all Goodbye, where she comes to their home to save Miley from the paparazzi in her Dolly-copter. She later on performs on stage at one of her concerts and invites Miley onstage.
